Joyce’s Ethics Statement
Last updated: September 15th, 2018
Here is a statement of my ethics and coverage policies. It is more than most of you want to know, but, in the age of suspicion of the media, I am laying it all out.
Integrity is absolutely critical as a writer and journalist. My readers expect that the essays and articles I write are formed by my own, independent opinions, and haven’t been purchased by any company or individual I cover.
My husband is a co-founder of a real-estate startup funded by NFX, Greylock, Bain Capital Ventures and NYCA.
TechCrunch: All writing that has been published under TechCrunch is my own, independent, non-sponsored work and analysis. I will not write about companies that I formally directly advise or consult. I will not write about any companies who are in consulting with Block72 at the time of publication.
Global Coin Research: All writing that has been published under Global Coin Research is our own, independent, non-sponsored, work, unless explicitly stated that it’s sponsored, contribution or a collaboration. I might write about companies who are in consulting with Block72 and companies that I advise or consult, and in the case of such, I will disclose that in the post or in writing.
Investments and personal holdings: Outside of typical employer equity from my former and current employer, I own largely ETFs and some large-cap tech stocks. In Crypto, I own Bitcoin and Ethereum, enough to gain an understanding, not enough to change a life.
